zoho-logoLast month, I wrote a review on the Zoho Online Suite of Tools. Today, I will give you my thoughts on the mobile version of Zoho, which I have been using on my iPhone. This review was requested by sathish, who works on the mobile web applications at Zoho.

In my review of the online suite of tools, I loved the fact that it was free, easy to access, and I could share, upload and download my files anywhere I was in the world. I also loved that it is a direct competitor to Microsoft, and I think that is a good thing. Now, taking the awesome power of the web applications and putting it in the palm of your hand with an iPhone, that makes it that much better. To access the site from your mobile phone, type in m.zoho.com into your web browser.

Presentation

Right off the bat, the presentation is awesome. This has a lot to do with Apple and the iPhone in general, but Zoho has also created a simple, easy to use and navigate mobile version of their online suite of tools.

I am always thinking of new ideas and wanting to write thoughts down and this is a perfect application to do so. With Zoho Writer, I can login, create a new document and write my thoughts down. Then I can access that same file on my Mac or PC when I get home or am at the office.

Easy To Use

The great thing about the this web application and the iPhone is that because the screen is so large, it makes it comfortable to sit and write something. This is great when I am stuck at the airport and don’t want to unpack my laptop, I can just pull out my iPhone and continue to get work done.

Can Only Go Up From Here

This is one of my favorite web applications that I use on my iPhone. Currently, the mobile version offers six of the many applications. They are:

ipdocsMail
Calendar
Writer
Sheet
Show
Creator

As the iPhone software and hardware increases, this will only allow Zoho to continue to improve on their already great web application. So if you haven’t already, sign up for Zoho now! And then login on your iPhone or mobile phone and explore all the features it has to offer.

A Couple Things To Note

With the current mobile version of Zoho for the iPhone, there are a few limitations. Zoho does not support or recommend their full versions of Zoho to be used on the iPhone, such as http://writer.zoho.com. Another thing to note is that editing of an existing document from Zoho Writer is not supported as of now.

Conclusion

Zoho mobile is great for creating documents while on the go. While you are not able to edit an existing document, it is a great place to write down thoughts and ideas for later use. The advantage is that you can access those files from any computer to then further edit them. I am pretty happy with Zoho mobile and look forward to more improvements throughout 2009 and beyond. If you haven’t already done so, check out Zoho mobile on your iPhone or iPod Touch today!
