Over the course of the last few years, I have accumulated a lot of books, a lot of research and have analyzed a lot of companies to help ground and back up my ideas on business development, strategy, and identity. Branding, which encompasses all three of my major areas of study, is vital to any company. As I mentioned in a blog post last week about how creating a branded world can help to set your company apart, branding can also evoke emotion which can help to attract clients.

One of the companies that I recently began noticing and researching more is called MailChimp. MailChimp is an

email marketing tool that companies and individuals can use to create email campaigns. On the surface, this appears to be just like any other email marketing tool that you can find on the internet. There are dozens of them. So what sets them apart? A lot of it has to do with how they have branded themselves.
Everything about the website fits the world in which a chimp could thrive. From the jungle graphics, to the language used to describe different features, it all blends together to create a strong brand. On top of that, the sounds of MailChimp that you hear in their Demo video and tutorials continues the brand. Sounds of the jungle, chimps squealing, all help to bring you into MailChimp’s world.

Play On Emotions
What helps to set MailChimp apart is the play on emotions and imagination. For those who love animals, apes and monkeys in particular, this may tug on your heart strings further. The idea that there is a Chimp delivering your mail for you is pretty wild. But if you go along with it, it can be fun and can enhance the experience of your email marketing campaign.
Try It Out
With online software, it can be quite hard to determine if it will work for your company just by looking at the features and reading some reviews. Take a look at MailChimp for yourself and see if it can help you and your business. Even if MailChimp is not a direct fit for your company, you can still take away some of the branding ideas and techniques to create a stronger brand.
