Suncadia, WA: A Branded Community Case Study
There are so many different kinds of branding, be it personal, corporate, products, or location. Branded communities interest me because it physically uses all five senses to design an experience for the end user, the home owner, the restaurant goer, the golf clubhouse member. Having worked on a number of planned communities throughout the world, it is a topic I am familiar with. On top of branding and planned communities, there is the economic engine part that really fascinates me. Combine all of these together and you get an amazing experience. While resort communities are being built around the world, some more than others have a unique feel to them. Suncadia is one of the few.
Cougar Pride: A Unique Branded Culture
Cougar Pride, as it is called in the Palouse. There is nothing quite like it. I have met a number of people who have gone to school all over the country, but none seem to have the bond that a WSU cougar has. It is a culture of its own, and one that is pretty special.
Personal Brand vs. Corporate Branding
There has been a radical shift in the media from the perspective of branding over the last few years. This has been emphasized in the U.S. as everything has begun to center around the individual. Examples of this can be seen throughout all types of media, most notably being reality TV series. To me, personal branding is an important aspect of life, as it can help a person to define who they are, what they stand for and where they want to go in life.
Choosing A Branded World- How Do You Decide?
In yesterday’s post, I discussed the trend that companies and their brands are becoming more and more incompatible. Competition is becoming more and more fierce, and therefore, gaining a customer and their trust is critical. Just as a theme park is a world envisioned by the imaginations of its designers and entrepreneurs, companies have started to create worlds of their own.
Are Brands Becoming Incompatible With Each Other?
It seems, not too long ago that a person could mix and match products from different companies, different brands, using the best of what companies had to offer. While this can still be done, it feels as though there has been a shift into all-inclusive brands. In other words, a branded world. When you choose to buy product X, the products that are associated with product X are also by the same company. Now, I am sure that this has been true for quite a while as well. Although now, I believe it to be more emphasized.
Is Seeing Believing
his last weekend I came across an interesting documentary which brought illusion, psychology, behavior, and business together. All of these subjects are interesting in themselves, but when combined, it creates an even more interesting dialogue. Illusion was used as an example to show that our eyes see one thing while our brain sees another. In fact, we only see 10% with our eyes.

Intertwining Yourself Into Your Company’s Brand: How to Avoid It
So often, small business owners end up becoming their brand. In other words, they develop a reputation within their industry as the go-to person to deliver the best goods and/or services.
