Leveraging Scarcity To Your Advantage
Think about rare or exclusive things, either that you own, or that you would like to own. What is it about them that makes them attractive? Is it the fact that they are of high quality or a luxury brand? The truth is, those are more givens than anything else. The real reason may be in fact, because, it is a hard to get item. At least thats what the marketing would have you believe. It may be a limited edition, or 1 of 100 produced, or something to that effect.
How To: Care…But Not That Much
The world we live in is one big negotiating table, this according to World Renowned Negotiator Herb Cohen. He has written a couple books that I have written about in previous posts. Throughout my career and life, after reading his books and focusing on applying his advice to my life, I have found the biggest take away from Cohen is this simple little phrase: CARE…BUT NOT THAT MUCH
Echo Republic: Follow the Artist. Share in the Success.
Music is a big part of my life. I love listening to it as I brainstorm ideas, while traveling long distances, and before going to work out. It is an extension of our lives. To me, everyone needs a personal soundtrack. It makes life a lot more interesting. As the music industry has dramatically progressed and shifted to the online model, I began to think how artists could add to their bottom line as we all know only a few bands make it to big stage. Through some research and some imagination, I imagined a stock market for music. The concept being you could buy or short shares of singles or albums on a music stock exchange. When music is first debuted on the radio, sometimes you just know when a song will become number one. The idea of the music stock exchange is to be able to cash in on that hunch. It would benefit music fans as well as the artists.
Resources for your Business
Throughout the last two years, I have blogged and offered tips and strategies on how to implement systems into your business in order to free up time and increase efficiency and be more profitable. I have made a conscious effort to not bombard my readers and visitors with offers for products and services and google ads just to make money. That is not the main purpose of this blog. However, with that being said, the goal of this blog is to become a resource that you can use, bookmark, and come back to, to help you get your business running more efficiently. Therefore, I have added a Resources section to this site.
How To Create Team Empowerment
Empowering others is a skill that few have mastered, yet is one that is critical in the work place. Certain people possess traits that allow themselves to be the type of person where people aspire to be like. In this rare case, empowering becomes easier, as the team wants to work to be like their leader. But what about the majority of people who are put in this situation? Here are some tips to keep in mind the next time you need to empower your team.
LinkedIn Revisited
Networking. Who do you know? Who do you want to know? Who, in your network can connect you to that person that is connected to that company that you want to do business with? Or that you want to hire you? It is all networking. Social media has become a fun way to network and to build a network across the globe without leaving your computer. You can build a superficial network where you are connected to many but still only talk to a few. Or you can create an active network, one that is constantly expanding and growing. A network where you help others and they help you.
Mockingbird: Wireframes on the fly
As an entrepreneur, it is critical that you are able to communicate your vision and your ideas to your team when creating and implementing your plan. One struggle is trying to communicate with a web designer. You, as an entrepreneur, may have artistic skills of some kind, but not be able to show a web designer how you want a site to look and feel. The web designer may be able to create sites and a variety of different languages and functionality, but is not able to understand the look and feel that you want.
The Joneses Effect
The Joneses. The movie came out in 2009 and from what I remember was somewhat quiet as far as press and coverage. It depicted the typical ‘American Dream’ family with the house in the suburbs and all the toys one could want.
Square Up: Accept Credit Card Payments Anywhere
Square. A device that allows anyone to accept credit card payments, anywhere they may be. The company will even send you the device, free of charge after signing up as an individual or a business. Pretty sweet deal, don’t you think?
Famous in 31 Days: A Documentary
Movies fascinate me. I love the interwoven stories and how the characters come to interact with each other. Documentaries also fascinate me. They are personal stories of triumph, heart-break, depression, and happiness all rolled into a roller coaster ride as you ride along through their journey. The thing about documentaries is that the people don’t need to be traveling very far for it to be an adventure. Although the docs where the people travel the United States or the world are my favorite.
