Orangutan Outreach

Orangutans are one of my favorite animals. If I could, I would love to have one live with me. However, I know that it would not be good for the orangutan, so I will just continue to help them out in other ways. One of the best ways to help out orangutans is to contribute to charities that will provide food, medicine, shelter, and protection from poachers and hunters.

This past Christmas, 2008, I adopted Dodo, a baby orangutan who recently lost his mother when a palm oil company clearcut their forest home, to my younger sister. She absolutely loves orangutans, and this way, with my contribution to Orangutan Outreach, she will receive emails updating her on Dodo, pictures of him as he grows up and so much more throughout the year. I know that my contribution will help Dodo, as well make my sister happy. The triple win effect is what I talked about back in mid December- you  can read the post here.

It costs over $2,000 a year to rescue, rehabilitate and release each orangutan. Your donation will ensure that the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation can continue this important work. With your help, we can give these orangutans a future. - From redapes.org
